How to Install a Concrete Anchor

1. Choose the anchor for the load: a Tapcon for light removable work, a wedge or sleeve anchor for heavy permanent duty.
2. Drill the hole with the correct masonry bit, at least 1/2 in deeper than the embedment depth.
3. Blow the dust out of the hole — dust can cut holding power in half.
4. Tap the anchor into the hole until the nut or body sits flush with the surface.
5. Tighten the nut to the specified torque so the wedge or sleeve expands and locks.
6. Keep anchors away from edges (about 10 diameters) to avoid blowout, and do not drill a new hole right next to a failed one.
